Still time to pick up raffle tickets
Hello readers, what a change to our weather! Our temperatures seem to be jumping up and down with Saturday night in the very low 20s and very cold when I woke on Sunday morning, but warming a lot as the day passed. I did some yard work, and something is strange when I see more that needs to be done, especially at this time of year.
Christmas is coming! And in this Paint Lick village on Saturday, you can come into the Friends building and warm for some coffee, hot chocolate and cookies. Mrs. Carrie Tuttle of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church will be reading the Christmas story to the children beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Then just across the hall, the children and even the adults can enjoy our Christmas crafts with the ladies of Mt. Tabor Church. We have plans to keep Santa in the Firehouse until everyone is through and Old St. Nick should be out and about at 11 to 11:30 am.
After all the festivities, a drawing for the beautiful raffle items will be conducted. Come and share in the morning as we all celebrate the Christmas we know and love so well ... just being together as friends.
By the way, you still have time to get your tickets in the can at First Southern Bank for that nice chainsaw. I am in the running to win that one myself.
A day of fun and fellowship was enjoyed by the descendants of Ebb and Mary Lamb, who gathered on Sunday, Sept. 27 for their annual reunion at the home of Pauline Denny on the Old Railroad in Paint Lick. Those attending were Ralph and Joyce Reams, Ray Ross, Cecil and Sally Lamb, Whitney, Rachel, J.T. and Justin Parson, Melvin Begley, Ralph and Darlene Begley, Thomas and Judy Begley, Nicole Begley, Jennifer, Courtney and Jacqueline Cox, Lewis Lamb, Rose Croteau, Donna Lamb, Rickie Gibson, Danny Gibson, Pauline Denny and Jay and Sherry Banick.
My prayers, this evening and every evening are for Dr. Jim Cox of Richmond. Jim is a member of the Paint Lick Christian Church and we all love him dearly.
May God bless.

Just because fuel prices are down from the $4 per gallon prices we saw a year ago doesn’t mean it is time to stop looking for ways to be energy efficient.

Get ants under control
Ants. They drive me crazy and I usually do not even mind bugs. Every year they seem to try to find their way into our homes and forage for food. But what can be done about these little nuisances?

These days, most of us are trying to stretch all we can out of every dollar. We continually are looking for ways to be more diligent about saving it and more penny-wise about spending it.
