Union City Christian gathering of men scheduled for Monday

Union City Christian Church will have a gathering of men next Monday evening. The Builders For Christ group will meet for a meal at 6:30 p.m. and program at 7:30 p.m. The speaker for the evening will be Greg Witt. This is a meeting of men from Christian churches in Madison, Estill, Clark and Jackson counties. The purpose of the group is to encourage one another with fellowship and training. An offering is taken at each meeting and from this money, monthly donations are sent to new or developing churches. Currently, Campton Christian Church in Campton and Cornerstone Christian Church in McKee are receiving support from the group.

The Ruritan Club met Monday at Union City. The following reports and announcements were made. On Nov. 6, there was a dinner to honor veterans and 33 were present. The Halloween party in October had 120 in attendance. The Central Kentucky Blood Mobile will be at the Ruritan building on Tuesday afternoon, November 24. Everyone who can is encouraged to give blood. The Ruritan Family Christmas dinner is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, 6:30 pm.

Our sympathy goes out to the family of Mrs. Virginia Brandenburg, whose funeral was Monday. She was a sweet lady and will be missed by her family and friends.

     • Remove bulls from the cow herd by the end of the month and keep them away from the cows. A short calving season can concentrate labor during the calving season; group calves by age so that it is easier to find a convenient time to vaccinate, castrate, dehorn, etc.; and provide a more uniform group of calves at market time.
