Fall colors make a beautiful November

Katie Rollins

Hello everyone. What a wonderful start to the first week of November in 2009. It is a bright and sunny Monday afternoon with no clouds to say we might get a shower. It has been a rainy end to the summer season and now into the fall of the year, I see indescribable colors all along our creeks and up into the hillsides with the sun holding onto the moment as all the beauty of nature catches my eye.

I’ve been out early these past few mornings and I take that extra bit of time to marvel at all He has given me, especially the morning mists as they drift up from the frosty valleys and winding streams heavy with fog. It is such a sight to see and a glory to behold. It kind of takes your mind off everyday happenings ...

Nov. 2 was a big day for little Will Hagan, who turned 6 years old. I incorrectly listed him as older in last week’s news, so he tells me at church, "I’m not six yet". A smart chap, that little fellow, and a great helper, too. Happy birthday, Will.

This Saturday, starting at 7 p.m., several groups of musicians will be hosting a benefit singing at The Acton Folk Center in Berea. I had talked about this benefit in last week’s column and I would like to encourage folks of all ages to stop by and listen. I know there will be someone playing who may catch your attention. The center is directly across from the Berea City Park on Jefferson Street.

Happy birthday wishes to great friend from Paint Lick Christian Church, Ms. Marianne Hurte on Monday and also to brother Bobby Alexander, who shares the same day on Nov. 9. Time passes so quickly anymore with all the things that keep us bogged down, so we forget and then when that special birthday rolls around, it gives me time to recall those good days when we were kids and the times, even though they were hard, were indeed ones to remember.

On Wednesday, my daughter-in-law, Hope, will share her big day on Veteran’s Day. Then, on Friday, Nov. 13, Mr. Jared Hawley will celebrate his birthday. Jared is the son of Mike and Lisa and brother to Kristen Hawley. I pray each and everyone will have a great week and that you’ll stay well.

A reminder: GED classes are available at The Friends of Paint Lick on Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m. Give us a call at 925-2417.

May God bless.
