Hi! Did you survive Halloween? There didn’t appear to be as many trick-or-treaters as in years past. I think most youngsters were taking advantage of the trunk-or-treats and parties offered by area churches.
Although it was a tad on the chilly side, it wasn’t a bad night for the superheroes and witches. Except for the chilly evenings and early mornings, the warm, sunny days this week has November getting off to a great start. This weekend’s forecast looks fantastic, still sunny and hitting close to 70s!
Waco Elementary’s Book Fair was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who participated. Students now are competing for the chance to enjoy ice cream sundaes via another recycling contest. Students may bring in empty printer cartridges, old cell phones, video games and consoles, GPS devices, DVDs, iPods and old digital cameras. Waco gets money for these items even if they’re not working. The contest runs now through Nov. 30. The top three classrooms get ice cream sundaes, so send or bring in those items and win!
Happy birthday wishes go out to Leona Brandenburg who will celebrate her 86th birthday Saturday, Nov. 7!
On a sad note, sympathies are extended to the family of Gary Perkins. To Judy, Brenda, Duane, Hemie Dean, Modena and the rest, may it help you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. He will be sorely missed by his many, many friends in the county.
That’s about it for this week. Don’t forget to say thanks next week to our veterans on Veterans Day. Have a great rest of the week!
(A Caribbean vacation does sound wonderful, doesn’t it? Even if it is only in your mind!)
