We serve a God who is merciful to all

who is merciful to al

“I know that you are gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness. One who relents from doing harm?” (Jonah: 4:2)

Believe it or not, Jonah ran away from God’s call because he knew what the God of Israel was really like! Why, if he went and preached to those heathen Gentiles, God might save them! And they were the enemy. Surely God would not spare them!

After a second chance, Jonah went reluctantly, and sure enough, Nineveh repented, God relented and Jonah was angry. “Should not I pity Nineveh, that great city? Asked God. God loves idolatrous city-dwelling Ninevities.

Do we? Like Jonah, we may know God is gracious, merciful, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness. Are we reflecting his heart toward the hated and violent “Ninevites” in our cities? Are we answering his call to go to them and preach his word of repentance and forgiveness?

Amen.

We greet you today with life, love and peace in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who is our author and finisher of our faith.

     • Remove bulls from the cow herd by the end of the month and keep them away from the cows. A short calving season can concentrate labor during the calving season; group calves by age so that it is easier to find a convenient time to vaccinate, castrate, dehorn, etc.; and provide a more uniform group of calves at market time.
