Hello everyone. It goes from warm weather to cold, from rain to ice in just a few days. The weather is all mixed up.
I hope everyone remains cautious when they are on the road. No matter what kind of weather we have, the rain can be treacherous.
Dad still has people wrecking in that curve on Hwy. 1295 just at the last entrance of the “Ross Farm.” His fence has been hit almost as many times as the fence at the corner of Hwy. 1295/52.
The ditch at Dad’s farm keeps some damage away from his fence. People still drive too fast on 1295. When it gets wet, you cannot make those curves. I think someone should write a book on the Curves of Kirksville. The sequel would be never ending.
Well, Tyler Scrinver is heading to Japan. He is the young man who is in the U.S. Navy. He will be missed, but everyone is so proud. What an honor Kirksville has in this man. We will keep you in our prayers.
It seems illness is hitting everyone. So many in the community have been sick or are going through some tough illness.
All churches, please keep our community and all the church’s members in prayer.

Veterans News
The Madison County Veterans invite the veterans and citizens of Madison County to join us in paying respects to our service men and women (past and present) starting at 10 a.m. Monday at the back gate of the Richmond Cemetery, followed by Madison Memorial Gardens at noon. Guest speaker at this year's memorial event will be U.S. Rep. Andy Barr.
Flags will be placed for our service men/women starting Saturday at 8 a.m. at Madison Memorial Gardens and starting at the back gate of Richmond Cemetery. All volunteers are welcome. A special thank you to Memorial Gardens for the gracious donation of flags to be placed at Richmond Cemetery. -

One more day of school — yippee!! It sure has felt like summer the past few days, hasn't it? I hope our showers/ storms predicted for today aren’t in the severe category. The folks in Oklahoma have had a tough time of it lately (our prayers are certainly with them).
Can you believe this is Memorial Day weekend? Where did the month of May go -- it was here and gone in the blink of an eye it seems.
Representatives of the Flatwoods Cemetery Association Inc. will be set up at the entrance to the cemetery with ballots for upcoming Board of Directors. Just stop by, mark your ballot and drop same in the ballot box and we'll let you know the names of the 2013-2014 Board members. -

Many times, when people think of Big Brothers, Big Sisters, they think of the organization’s fundraiser Bowl for Kids’ Sake.
But this year, BBBS of the Bluegrass is trying something new.

One of the great moments of my life was sitting next to legendary Louisville attorney Frank Haddad at a luncheon when he learned he had received the first Peter Perlman Outstanding Trial Lawyer award from the Kentucky Academy of Trial Lawyers.
As they started his bio, the surprised Frank started crying like a baby. A sudden heart attack took him less than a year later. Winning the Perlman award was the crowning achievement of his career. -

Plan to spend some extra time, there is so many booths that it will take you a while to make it around.

How is everyone’s week going? I hope everyone is having a great one. Well the weather has improved a lot. I have heard the lawn mowers buzzing since the rain stopped for a few of days. Everyone is trying to get their yard mowed and trimmed up before the next rain. Gardeners are out working diligently working the grounds that have finally dried enough to plant things.
