Hello everyone. The excitement is building for Kirksville Days celebration on Sept. 26.
Darlene Synder, a new, up-and-coming author, is preparing for her book signing. She will be set up near the Kirksville Baptist church. The book is called “Casting Bread Upon The Water.” She said it has taken a while to complete research for the book, and it has been in the making for 15 years.
The book is a history of the Kirksville community, and specifically, the Kirksville Baptist Church. Photographs and personal memories are included in the book. If you would like to pre-order a book, call Darlene at 328-3525. There will be a limited number of September copies. And don’t forget to stop by her table to get her to autograph your book. She will be there from 8 a.m. to noon.
The McHargue cloggers are back at Kirksville Days again. They always are excited to be part of this celebration. They always have a great clogging exhibition. Richard McHargue is an inspiring teacher, and you can see how this reflects in his students. You can see them at 10 a.m. near the Kirksville Baptist Church.
Bill and Jackie Golden will be the grand marshals for the parade. The parade will start at 11 a.m., and line-up will be at the Kirksville Community Center at 10:30. The mayor has not yet been announced. The final planning meeting will be Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
There is even more going on in the community on Kirksville Day weekend. On Sunday, Sept. 27, the Gilead Church will be having its homecoming. Pastor Mark McQuire will be their guest speaker and the Doylesville Singers will be adding music for the day. Of course, there will be food on the grounds as well. The service will be starting at 11 a.m.
The third Saturday of the month is upon us and the Kirksville Baptist Church will be having the clothes closet open at the Kirksville Community Center from 9 a.m. to noon. If you have clothes to donate, please contact any church member.
