RICHMOND — Just because fuel prices are down from the $4 per gallon prices we saw a year ago doesn’t mean it is time to stop looking for ways to be energy efficient. Sooner or later those prices and other energy costs will creep up and consumers need to be prepared.
The Madison County Home Energy Expo will be Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., at the Perkins Building, on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University, on Kit Carson Drive. This year, more than 25 exhibitors will be sharing information on energy efficient products and services.
The Madison County Conservation District will be giving two to three seedlings to each family visiting their booth. They have a wide variety to choose from. Ackerman and Goodwin Realtors will be giving away reusable bags for everyone to carry their information and goodies home. The Richmond Tree Advisory Board also will also be giving a seedling to the first 300 families who stop by their exhibit.
Families who complete an event evaluation and visit most of the booths may register for two $200 gift cards. They could be used to start an energy efficient remodeling project or help purchase a new energy efficient appliance. You do not have to be present to win.
Money Crunch
We still have a few openings in the money management workshop series. On March 15, the topic will be Make a Spending Plan. On March 22, participants will Learn to Manage Your Credit, and on March 29, Save and Invest to Meet Your Goals will be the subject. All workshops begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Madison County Extension Education Center at 230 Duncannon Lane, Richmond. Call 623-4072 to register or for more information.
