Hi!
Is it snowing yet? This is early in the week for me (Tuesday evening as a matter of fact) and the forecast for Thursday is for a little wintry mix early, then snow for Friday into Saturday morning, followed by temperatures in the teens! I guess we should be seeing some “stuff” by the time you read this. I still have visions (and terror) of last year’s ice storm. Not only did I fear the falling tree limbs all around us, but no electricity for 11 days was horrifying. My, how we get used to conveniences, right!
Congratulations to new Waco grandparents! Great-grandmother Mary Lee and Great-grandfather Gene Webb, along with Grandmother Terri Tudor, said “hello” to their newest granddaughter, Lynnlea Nicole Tucker, on Jan. 22 around 8:30 in the morning when she made her way into this world. Lynnlea weighed eight pounds, one ounce and measured 19 inches in length. Cousins Paige Parker (daughter of Ashley) and Kirby (son of Courtney) were almost as excited as big brother Coy upon her arrival. Lynnlea is the daughter of Erica (Tudor) and Shane Tucker of Lexington.
From Flatwoods Christian “news” (thanks to Pastor Tim Jones,) we hear that $955 has been brought in for the Haiti Relief effort! Thanks to everyone for contributing, especially since there was no particular special offering or campaign, folks just giving because they wanted to, and as the Pastor said, “That is wonderful!” We also understand that Choubert Remy will be leaving for Haiti around the first of the month. Our prayers go with him as he and his wife return to a much different Haiti than when they left it back in December.
On a sad note, Roger Richardson’s sister, Laoma Thomas, passed away earlier this week. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.
The students at Waco Elementary School decided they wanted to do something for the people of Haiti. Red Cross buckets were placed in each homeroom to hold money (change, money from home, etc.) Their goal was to collect enough to contribute $1,000. By Monday, their total collection was a little over $800. Wow, isn’t that great? Way to contribute, Waco!
That’s about it for this week. Have a great weekend, snow and all!
