PAINT LICK —
The rain has finally come to an end here in Paint Lick and the sun is beginning to shine once again.
This past weekend kept most of us inside just wanting to stay dry.
The Paint Lick Creek is slowly going down after so much rain. I think we got around three inches total and it feels good to be out, even if it is in the colder air.
We had a crispy 32 degrees this Monday morning, so it’s winter all over. Our weather changes from week to week, so maybe if the colder air settles in, we’ll all be the better for it.
My sisters, Peggy and Linda, and I visited the family cemetery on Sunday, then had a bite to eat at sister Emma’s house.
It’s always so loving down there with her girls taking charge and letting Emma rest on Sundays.
It’s a special day for all of them as they help her prepare dinner and the sit around the big table and talk about their week.
Our mother passed away (on Jan.14) some 49 years ago and I know with age, that I miss her just being around.
The young ones in our family didn’t get to know my mother before her death, so I feel a blessing whenever I visit at Emma’s with her big family all around. Thank you, Sis.
Everyone is invited to “An Evening With Sam Gleaves,” beginning at 7 p.m., this Friday at the community arts center here in Paint Lick. A phone call ahead would ensure a seat and we are asked to “pitch in” with desserts.
Call the arts center at 925-2741 and talk with Hal Davis. The evening will be filled with various music, including my favorite – the banjo.
Happy belated birthday wishes to Mr. Tom Burnam of Walnut Meadow Road and a special fellow in the Paint Lick Christian Church.
Tom shares a birthday with Beverly Bentley, also of the church. Their special day was Jan. 14
Happy birthday to Christopher Bowles, son of Dora Bowles, of Paint Lick on Saturday, Jan.19.
May God bless.
