Hello readers. We have snow, and lots of it at this writing on Sunday evening, the last day in January.
By the time Friday afternoon rolled around last week, I was almost a non-believer of all the weather forecasts that I had heard from three days before. All this white stuff just dropped from the sky while we were sleeping. It was a soft, white blanket that completely took my breath away when I looked out around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
It really did feel good to just stay home for the weekend and sleep a little later than usual. I did go “snow disking” on Causey Hill with my granddaughter Amanda. I think the next time (if there is a next time), I will remember to take a bigger sliding disk — one for my size. Maybe I will not be so sore from all that exercise.
I made snow cream later in the day and it was oh so good. Thank you, Marianne Hurte for the best recipe.
Most church services were canceled because of the 5 to 7 inches of snow that covered parking areas leaving huge drifts in the fence rows, and I did miss going to church. I feel like my Sunday is not complete if I don’t interact with my good neighbors for Sunday morning services. I did however, spend the afternoon with two good friends, Linda and Janice, as we took a break for some much needed sorting.
A special piece from Linda Caldwell about Second Fridays announces that Trish Ayers, producer, is sending out a call for actors and actresses for a series of plays, “MoneyBlue$,” written during the Kentucky Women’s Playwright Seminar last year. The plays will be presented in April in Berea at the Arena Theatre. Call Trish at 985-0686 for more information.
A very happy anniversary to Tom and Coy Burnam, Feb. 7, and also to “Ced” and Ellen Hagan on Feb. 10.
The Lord has blessed you all.
May God bless.
