New reading class at Kirksville Baptist

Donna Moberly

Hello everyone. Well, I will start off with some great news. Israel Hoskins, of the Boy Scout Troop 762, has become an official Eagle Scout. Congratulations. Hard work and dedication does pay off. This is the first member of this group to achieve Eagle Scout. This is a great time for young men to join the Boy Scouts. If anyone is interested, call troop leader Bobby Carpenter at 859-792-9016.

Well, with more good news — the snow is melting. It sure was a beautiful site. I loved looking over the countryside at all the beautiful wonder. I know it was a beautiful, but very treacherous. The road crew did a great job getting the main roads clean. The side roads took a little more time because of the large amount of accumulation and drifts.

I noticed while helping to clear the snow from the driveway, that it seamed to be at least six inches deep. The inches increased in some areas where the drifts had piled the snow. The neighbors around the Spinglake Subdivision were busy at work clearing their sidewalks and drives on Saturday.

This was one kind of exercise that I did not particularly like. Even after all my work, I did not even get a bonus — riding a sled. Oh well. Dad asked me how old I was? I guess he thought I was too old to sled ride. Papa, just wait till the next snow.

The Kirksville Baptist Church will be beginning a new book reading class beginning on Feb. 7th at 6 p.m. The book is entitled, “How to Listen to God,” by Charles Stanley. Sammy Hammons will lead the class. The class will run for 11 weeks. Mark your calendar so you won’t miss out.

The churches now should be in full swing again with their services. I hope everyone was safe during the bad weather.
