BEREA —
Employees of The Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Berea have worked more than one million hours without a lost-time employee injury.
For the second consecutive year, the Kentucky Labor Cabinet recognized the facility for the safety milestone in May during the Governor’s Safety and Health Conference at the Galt House in Louisville. About 600 safety-oriented professionals from across the state attend the conference each year to participate in OSHA-related training courses.
Labor Cabinet Secretary J.R. Gray said the award brings attention to businesses that have the safety and health of employees at the forefront.
The Governor’s Safety and Health Award that The Terrace received provides special recognition for outstanding safety and health performance and encourages the development of programs designed to reduce and even eliminate occupational injuries and illnesses.
The Terrace has over 120 employees and is a licensed 102-bed nursing facility.
Administrator Paula Strunk said the safety record to employees’ dedication to working safe and an active safety committee that represents each department.
The Terrace’s safety program uses “safety games” to train and help employees focus on safety, she said.
