This year, the Madison County Cooperative Extension Service and Eastern Kentucky University are joining together to present 2010 BioEnergy Field Day set for tomorrow (Thursday afternoon, Sept. 9) 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Eastern Kentucky University’s Meadowbrook Farm, 485 Whitt Road, off Irvine Road.
Exhibitors from across Kentucky, local area agri-businesses and equipment dealers will be on hand with displays. For details, see the website: http://ces.ca.uky.edu/madison or call 859-623-4072.
BioEnergy Farm Wagon Tours will highlight the potential of native Kentucky grasses as a source for biofuel, dispell myths of beef cattle production as a source of greenhouse gases. The new local weather, climate monitoring and reporting station that is part of the Kentucky Mesonet also will be on the tour.
Other demonstrations and displays will include: how waste plastics are converted to biodiesel technologies; a working dairy farm; horticulture programs; 4-H youth development programs; food preservation and safety; green cleaning, and more!
This event is free and open to the public and a sponsored meal will be served. Please call 623-4072 if you plan to attend, so enough food may be prepared. There will be plenty of parking.
