Thieves vandalize Paint Lick property during holiday weekend

Katie Rollins

Hello readers.

We’ve had a great week, huh? The air was just right and no rain for a whole six days and then, the rains came ... but not before I finished tilling the cucumbers in our garden.

I have just one row of beautiful green plants that are loaded with blooms! Some blooms are dropping because of all of the previous wet weather and the plants are so fragile. But, that’s good. The sun is shining bright and early every morning and the air has cooled, making the mornings a soothing time for sleep.

A former resident of Paint Lick, Ms. Sandra Bingham, stopped by our place on Monday and brought her puppy to so we could see how big she’d grown. Molly the puppy was born in Paint Lick and it was really good to see that she was being cared for so well. Thank you, Sandra. It was good to see you again, too. I hope you can come and bring your family to the Paint Lick Sportsman’s Club Barbecue on July 25. It looks like we’ll have a big day and some nice weather for everyone to get together.

For more details, watch the paper.

It seems that over the holiday weekend, someone —or more than one person — took the chance to vandalize property in the Paint Lick area. The Sportsman’s Club and Paint Lick Church of God were only two of the places that were broken into and downright meanness and some sloppy work went into every effort made for what I would call “someone with nothing else better to do.” It’s sad that these efforts cannot be put to work for the betterment of this community, but there’s some in all the crowds. I heard too, that some property on Short Road was taken. If anyone has any information on this act of thievery, please contact the sheriff of Garrard County.

I would like to say “thanks” to Christine Sebastian and Delphine Byrd at the Garrard County Library for their time with the children in the reading program at Paint Lick Christian Church. They were only given four days with the children this year, but every day was a hit for all who came. I hope to see you on July 15.

I’ve had some questions on where and when the Alexander Reunion will be conducted in August, but as of this writing, no plans have been made. I will do what I can to let everyone know through my column.

May God Bless
