RICHMOND —
The My Little Melody Musikgarten program helps children develop verbal skills, self-control, social skills, and most importantly, family involvement, said certified Musikgarten instructor Elizabeth Sartor. Family Music for Toddlers is a 12-week music education class offered in Berea and Richmond for children from birth to 4 years old.
Elaine Fehringer, grandmother of 2-year-old Ava Leone, said the class has really opened the child up socially.
"She is a very shy child by nature but you would never know it," Fehringer said.
Sartor said that in every class the children work on learning a steady beat, practice tuning their voices and learn to move to music in a rhythmic way. She also incorporates musical instruments as much as possible.
"They start to develop their capacity for music," Sartor said, which will become a “stepping stone” to related arts later in life.
