    We are happy to hear that city government is working on new ordinances to crack down on residents and property owners who pile up trash and expect it to be picked up at the taxpayers’ expense.
    We’re not happy, however, that it took a series of front page photos of trash heaps that can be found in many areas around town for the mayor and city commissioners to get serious about the issue.

Statistics indicate that women account for over 85 percent of all reported cases of domestic violence. Because of this, it is difficult to believe there are individuals who say they are not affected. We beg to differ. The truth of the matter is, if you have a job or health care coverage, then you are affected.

    The filing of a motion in Madison Circuit Court accusing Sheriff Nelson O’Donnell and his department as well as Commonwealth’s Attorney David Smith and his office of misconduct is troubling. The motion is part of the ongoing case against three Richmond police officers accused of witness tampering.
