MADISON COUNTY —
A man who police say pulled a knife on a Quality Quarters clerk was indicted last week by a Madison grand jury.
Triston R. Riley, 25, of Barnes Mill Road, was arrested in October and faces the charge of criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery. If convicted, Riley could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Richmond police were dispatched Oct. 8 to Quality Quarters on N. Killarney Lane at approximately 1:15 p.m., according to Richmond Police Chief Larry Brock.
“When the clerk resisted the robber’s order, the suspect fled from the business,” Brock said. “A description of the suspect was broadcast (to law enforcement officers) and a short time later, an officer located a man fitting Riley’s description behind Subway.”
He later was positively identified as Riley and was charged after a police station interview, the police chief said.
In other indictments:
• Brian D. Tevis, theft of identity and second-degree forgery. Tevis could serve a maximum sentence of 10 years if convicted on both charges.
• Arsenio Dushawn Watts, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and two counts of theft by deception. Watts could serve a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
• James Crowe, Jr. and Edward Gardner, flagrant non-support. The maximum penalty for this charge is five years in prison.
• Steve Wason, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance.
• Duwayne Davidson, cultivation of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana more than eight ounces, less than five pounds.
• Andrew McCann, cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana.
An indictment is a formal statement of charges and does not imply guilt, only that grand jurors believe the state has enough evidence to prosecute.

A Madison grand jury indicted 28-year-old Justin Morgan Howell and 26-year-old Lucas Wayne Shanks on charges of second-degree assault, second-degree escape and second-degree persistent felony offenders. -
