RICHMOND —
Richmond police arrested a second and third suspect Monday in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Sunday on O’Roark Avenue. A fourth suspect is still being sought.
As reported in Tuesday’s Richmond Register, police had already arrested Justin L. White, 20, of Edwards Avenue, on an armed-robbery charge in connection with the incident.
Tyler J. Gibbs, 20, of Edwards Avenue, and William D. Hill, Jr., 19, of Miller Drive, were both charged Monday with first-degree robbery.
A handgun was recovered from Gibbs at the time of his arrest, according to a Richmond Police Department press release.
Shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the area of O’Roark Avenue to investigate a robbery report. Officers met with three victims who said they stopped in front of an apartment when they were approached by four armed men, the RPD release stated.
The victims said the men pointed handguns at them and stole several items.
One victim reported that a small box containing two handguns and $1,100 in cash had been taken. Another victim said her black-and-silver Coach wristlet purse containing $22 in cash had been stolen.
After his arrest, a summons was served on Hill charging him with harassment based on a complaint filed after a Jan. 16 incident
Several outstanding warrants and a summons also were served on Gibbs.
He was charged with third-degree terroristic threatening, menacing and harassment in connection with a complaint filed Jan. 17 by a female alleging that Gibbs continuously threatened her with harm over the past year. A summons to appear in court had been issued in connection with the incident.
Gibbs also charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, carrying a concealed weapon and tampering with physical evidence in connection with a Jan. 29 incident.
In that case, an officer responded to a report that Gibbs was standing in the middle of a street with a handgun. When officers arrived, Gibbs fled on foot and discarded a loaded .45-caliber pistol, the police news release stated. A warrant was then obtained for his arrest.
Gibbs was charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police in connection with a Feb. 8 incident. When an officer responded to a harassment complaint involving Gibbs, he found the vehicle involved in the incident and initiated a traffic stop. Gibbs allegedly jumped from the moving vehicle and escaped on foot.
On Feb. 15, a bench warrant was issued for Gibbs after he failed to appear in Madison Circuit Court for a status hearing on case in which he had been indicted on second-degree robbery charge.
Gibbs was being held in jail Tuesday evening under a $1,000 bond on the fleeing and evading charge. Bond had not been set on his other charges.
Bond for Hill was to be set around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday
White remained in jail Tuesday under $25,000 cash bond, according to information from the Madison County Detention Center.
Other crime reports:
Sunday, a resident in the 200 block of Elm Street reported his home had been unlawfully entered during the mid-afternoon hours and several items were stolen. There were no signs of forced entry, according to the RPD release.
Reported missing were: a black Dell laptop computer (15 inch); an Emerson 19-inch television with a built-in DVD player; a black iPhone case; a green Incipio iPhone case; a white Incipio iPhone case; and a bottle of prescription medication.
The estimated loss was $318.
Also on Sunday, a resident in the 300 block of Overland Drive reported his home had been broken into during the early evening and several items were stolen. Entry was gained by breaking the kitchen door glass.
Reported missing were: an unknown make .22 caliber revolver, blue steel; three boxes of 12-gauge and 20-gauge shotgun shells; a gray plastic box containing assorted tools (including an air pump and jumper cables); a Franklin Mint gold pocket watch; and three gold showcase knives. Estimated loss was $818.
A resident in the 300 block of High Street reported Sunday that his maroon 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with Texas temporary license tag #45P8628, had been stolen overnight. Estimated loss is $39,000.
