RICHMOND —
Richmond police are investigating a shooting on Meadowlark Drive that left a woman with a serious wound in her lower leg.
Officers were sent at 7:21 a.m. Friday to the 100 block of Meadowlark Drive after receiving a report of a shooting, according to an RPD news release.
The officers found a woman at the home who had a gunshot wound to her lower leg that possibly was caused by a shotgun. She was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment, according to the release.
“Although the wound did not appear to be life-threatening, the extent of the injury has yet to be determined,” Chief Larry Brock said in the release.
The RPD is investigating the incident and no additional details were available, the release stated.
TV, cell phone stolen in home invasion
A woman was choked and her TV and cell phone stolen Monday when two men forced their way into her Tates Creek Avenue home, the RPD reports.
Police were sent to the home in the 300 block of Tates Creek Avenue at 6:55 p.m. The female resident told police she heard a knock at her door and when she opened the door, two men pushed their way in, the release stated.
The woman said she tried to grab her cell phone to call the police, but one of the men took the phone from her and began choking her.
The other man took her television, and both men fled in a light-colored passenger car that was parked on the street, she said.
The woman received a small cut on her hand during the home invasion, the release stated.
The stolen items, worth $998, were a Vizio 42-inch 3D LCD television and an iPhone 3.
One of the suspects was described as a black man with a dark complexion, about 6 feet, 5 inches tall and 200 pounds with short hair and a goatee. He was wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white athletic shoes.
The other suspect was a white man wearing a dark-colored ski mask, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Man beaten, robbed while walking on railroad tracks
A man reported being beaten and robbed at gunpoint Tuesday near Georgia Street and Central Court.
The victim told police that he and a female acquaintance were walking along the railroad tracks around 8 p.m. when they were approached by another man, the RPD release stated.
Words were exchanged between the two men as they passed each other, and then the victim said he heard a gunshot.
The victim was grabbed from behind by the man and forced to the ground, according to the report. He was struck several times in the face with the man’s fists and a small black handgun.
The robber pointed the gun at the victim and took his wallet and his red Samsung cellphone, the RPD reported. The phone is worth $250 and the wallet contained no money.
The victim suffered a large cut under his eye that required seven sutures, several scratches on his face, had one of his teeth knocked out and complained of back pain, according to the release.
The suspect was described as a black man, 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a medium build and wearing black pants and a black hoodie.
