RICHMOND —
The resident of a Villa Drive apartment realized Monday morning that two of his dogs had been stolen.
Richmond police reported Thursday that the resident’s apartment was “unsecured” at the time of the burglary.
Police Chief Larry Brock gave a description of the dogs in a press release.
The first dog is a black and white male pit bull with a brown leather collar with blue and green dog tags attached. The dog answers to “Zeus.”
The second dog is a brindle female pit bull with a white chest and a white spot on the neck. She wears a black nylon harness with a mesh chest piece and answers to the name of “Lady.”
The estimated loss of the two dogs totals $1,000, according to Brock.
Anyone with information about the dogs’ whereabouts is asked to call the Richmond Police Department at 623-1162.
Other crimes:
• A resident in the 500 block of Ballard Drive reported Tuesday that a 32-inch Vizio television and a Samsung Android cell phone had been stolen from her residence the previous day. There were several visitors to the residence during the time period of the theft, Brock said. The estimated loss is $750.
• Two complainants reported Tuesday that their cell phones were stolen during the afternoon while they were at Ballard’s. The phones had been left on the sales floor next to a couch prior to the theft, according to police. The phones were described as ZTE Merit Android models, one with a purple protective cover and the other with a black and white protective cover. The estimated loss is $334.
• A guest at Day’s Inn reported Monday that his vehicle had been broken into overnight and two items were stolen: A Rand McNally GPS unit, model 720, and a Galaxy citizen’s band radio, model 380. Entry was gained by breaking the driver’s side window, according to police. The estimated loss is $879.
• A student at Madison Central High School reported Jan. 29 that her black Apple iPhone 5 had been stolen from her desk during a class Jan. 28. The estimated loss is $500.

Man arrested Friday after early morning break-in

At 3:25 a.m., a witness reported seeing a man enter and exit the cleaners through a broken window and drive away, Brock stated in a news release. -

Two inmates at the Madison County Detention Center were indicted Wednesday on charges related to the beating of another prisoner.
A Madison grand jury indicted 28-year-old Justin Morgan Howell and 26-year-old Lucas Wayne Shanks on charges of second-degree assault, second-degree escape and second-degree persistent felony offenders. -
