Three people were charged Sunday with manufacturing methamphetamine in Berea after police received a report of drug activity on South Dogwood Drive.
Ronald Dale Seaborn Jr., 26, of Richmond; Derek Ray Damrell, 30, of Richmond; and John Lee Beard, 43, of Hillsboro in Fleming County, were arrested and taken to the Madison County Detention Center, according to a news release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department received a complaint at 6 a.m. about possible meth manufacturing in Berea, the release stated. Along with members of the Berea Police Department, officers went to 802 Dogwood Drive and immediately noticed the strong smell of ammonia, which is generated when meth is created, the release stated.
Officers found a one-step meth lab, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit dismantled the equipment, according to the release.
Seaborn also was charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police (misdemeanor) and nonpayment of files, according to jail records, but no information about those charges was given in the news release.
All three remained jailed Monday morning, each on bonds of $25,000, according to detention personnel.
Seaborn also is facing charges in two other counties, which added $720 to his bond. This is the seventh time he has been jailed in Madison County since January 2010, the detention center’s online records indicate.
This is Damrell’s sixth stay in the local lockup since May 2009. Beard had not been jailed previously in Madison County, the records show.
