RICHMOND —
Trial dates for two first-degree assault cases were set Thursday in Madison Circuit Court.
Eldon L. Washington, 26, who is accused of shooting a woman in June, is scheduled to stand trial March 25. Washington also faces three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count each of first-degree burglary, convicted felon in possession of a handgun and tampering with physical evidence.
Both the assault and burglary charges are Class B felonies, which each carry a sentencing range of 10 to 20 years in prison.
The shooting occurred June 24 in the 700 block of Sizemore Drive, according to a Richmond police news release. Officers responded to a call about shots fired at the residence, and when they arrived, they reported finding a 22-year-old woman on the bathroom floor with a gunshot wound.
Another woman who lived at the apartment told police someone had tried to kick open her front door, but then he broke out the front living-room window. Gunshots were fired and another woman in the apartment was hit.
The apartment’s resident was able to identify Washington as being involved with the shooting, according to the RPD.
Riddell stabbing case
Misty Riddell, 20, also appeared in court Thursday. She is charged with stabbing another woman in April, and her three-day trial was set for May 20.
Riddell’s case originally was to be tried Sept. 17, but it was pushed back to allow more time for the attorneys to prepare.
Riddell is accused of stabbing an 18-year-old woman in the chest and abdomen area and her left arm, according to a Richmond police news release. The victim underwent surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and has since recovered.
Prosecutors have alleged that a dispute over a man led to the stabbing.

Court hearing reveals errors in trafficking case’s investigative file
A discrepancy in police records led to an unusual hearing in a drug trafficking case Thursday in Madison Circuit Court.
The attorney for 49-year-old Carla Rae Clontz made a motion earlier this month for a bill of particulars hearing. Both the prosecution and defense attorneys had noticed problems with the file numbers in Clontz’ case, and there also were different reports of the number of pills sheriff’s deputies allege were found in her home. -
Man charged in theft of cash, skates from Sonic
Richmond police charged Isaac Hamilton, 20, of South Killarney Lane, with two counts of theft by unlawful taking under $500 Tuesday after he allegedly stole from his employer.
Hamilton, a former employee of Sonic on Big Hill Avenue, left the drive-in restaurant May 15 with $273.84, a change dispenser and a pair of roller skates and did not return, the business reported to police. -
Grand jury indicts man on DUI, endangerment charges in injury accident
A February car crash in which one person suffered a broken arm led to the indictment this week of an Irvine man on four wanton endangerment charges.
Zachary C. Goosey, 20, was was traveling eastbound Feb. 18 on the Eastern Bypass when his vehicle crossed the median and struck a westbound vehicle stopped at a traffic light, according to a Richmond police news release. -
