On Dec. 26, the Richmond Register reported on the arrest of Bryan K. Beagle, 27, who was charged with manufacturing meth in his home in the 400 block of Turpin Drive.
A second man living in the same residence was charged Thursday with manufacturing meth after Richmond police interviewed Gary D. Rogers, 45, at the police station, according to an RPD news release.
Officers responded to a complaint about drug activity Dec. 21 at the Turpin Drive home and found several items in Beagle’s bedroom commonly associated with meth-making, RPD Chief Larry Brock said in the release. Those included tubing, glass jars with red-tinted liquid inside, Coleman fuel, a funnel, iodine, lighter fluid, coffee filters and lithium batteries.
Beagle was booked Dec. 22 into the Madison County Detention Center but was released the same day on a $15,000 unsecured third-party bond. Rogers was at the jail Wednesday in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond, according to prison records.
Assault on Richmond Green Drive
Around 8 p.m. on New Year’s Day, police were dispatched to an apartment in the 1100 block of Richmond Green Drive to investigate a disturbance.
Officers knocked on the door and rang the doorbell but did not get a response. Officers then heard a woman screaming for help from inside the residence and forced their way inside, according to the RPD news release.
Once inside, police could hear a struggle occurring in an upstairs bedroom, and as they approached the room, Garrett N. Hager, 39, emerged and was detained.
Officers found a woman on the floor in the bedroom who had a bloody nose and scratches from the struggle.
She said Hager had “refused to let her leave the apartment and had held her down while hitting her,” according to the release.
Hager was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree assault and is in the detention center under a $2,500 cash bond.
Theft at the Super 7 Motel
Police charged a 22-year-old man with misdemeanor theft after investigating a report of money stolen from a parked vehicle at Super 7 Motel on Northgate Drive.
On Wednesday around 4:30 a.m., police responded to a report from a patron of the motel who said her unlocked vehicle had been broken into during the night. She said several items had been stolen: assorted women’s clothing and shoes, $450, a portable DVD player, a HTC cell phone charger and miscellaneous personal documents.
A follow-up investigation pointed to the man, who according to police had entered the unlocked vehicle earlier in the morning and rummaged through it.
The investigation also revealed that after he removed money from the vehicle, a red four-door passenger car occupied by four women entered the parking lot and removed the clothing from the trunk of the vehicle, according to the release. They fled the scene and remain unidentified. The estimated loss was $2,400.
The suspect was found in a room at the motel and officers recovered $62.50 that had been stolen from the vehicle, the release stated. He was cited for theft by unlawful taking (under $500) and was released.
