RICHMOND —
Richmond police made one arrest Tuesday and continue to search for two more suspects in connection to a November robbery.
Stephon Farris, 22, of Valley Street, faces the charge of first-degree robbery after a warrant for his arrest was issued Dec. 5.
On Nov. 29, officers were dispatched to investigate the report of a fight in progress in the 500 block of E. Irvine Street.
Upon arrival, the fight had ended and officers learned that a robbery had occurred, according to Richmond Police Chief Larry Brock.
The victim told police that he was in the area visiting a friend with three men approached.
“One of the males produced a handgun and fired one round into the air before pointing the gun at him and demanding money,” Brock said the victim told police. “The victim attempted to flee, but the three men grabbed him and a fight ensued.”
The suspects stole $3 from the victim’s pocket and fled the scene, according to police.
Farris was taken into custody at the Madison Hall of Justice on the robbery charge. Farris was then served with second warrant on a charge of failure to pay child support.
The other two suspects are still at large.

Farris remained in the Madison County Detention Center on Thursday under a $15,000 bond for the robbery charge and a separate bond of $3,500 on the flagrant non-support charge.
Other arrests:
• Martez L. Reed, 23, was arrested on several charges Tuesday after police said they found evidence of other crimes as they served him with a warrant on a charge of failing to appear in court.
He also is charged with trafficking in marijuana and first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
“When officers made contact with Reed at his residence, the officers detected a strong smell of marijuana and observed drug use paraphernalia and marijuana residue on a coffee table,” Brock said. “Officers recovered numerous bags of marijuana and scales from inside the residence.”
Police also found eight counterfeit $20 bills from the apartment, according to police.
Reed was released Wednesday from the Madison County Detention Center on a $2,500, unsecured, third-party bond.
• Tara Farley, 31, of Drowning Creek Road, was arrested Tuesday and charged with third-degree burglary for a theft offense at Walmart.
Store employees detailed Farley after she attempted to leave the Walmart with $91.72 in merchandise, Brock said.
Police later determined that Farley had been issued a trespass warning in November 2012 and banned from the store after a previous shoplifting incident.
“Her entry into the store to commit a shoplifting offense after being banned from the premises resulted in the burglary charge,” Brock said.
Farley was released Thursday on a $5,000 unsecured, third-party bond and is now on home incarceration, according to detention center personnel.

Two inmates at the Madison County Detention Center were indicted Wednesday on charges related to the beating of another prisoner.
A Madison grand jury indicted 28-year-old Justin Morgan Howell and 26-year-old Lucas Wayne Shanks on charges of second-degree assault, second-degree escape and second-degree persistent felony offenders. -
