‘Health Rocks!’ helps kids lead healthy lives

Scott Darst

4-H has many diverse activities and programs that have been developed to help youth to get involved. The goal of 4-H is to help youth have a sense of belonging, opportunities for mastery, learn independence and lessons in generosity. An upcoming 4-H event called “Health Rocks” will teach youth these important aspects and more.

Health Rocks is an approved 4-H curriculum that focuses on healthy living for ages 8 to 12. The goal of this program is to help youth build life skills which lead to healthy lifestyle choices with the emphasis on youth smoking, drugs and alcohol usage. The program is set up to help engage volunteer adults, teenagers, and children ages 9 to 12 in conversations where all parties can learn from one another. The Madison County 4-H program’s goal for this event is to address youth risk behaviors and educate about the consequences of unhealthy lifestyle choices. Through educational and fun activities youth will sure to learn the importance of healthy choices.

Be sure to watch for dates for this unique and educational event. If you have questions, call Scott Darst at 623-4072.
