Gunshot-victim Matthew Richie and trial defendant Denver Rearick (pictured) both testified Wednesday in Madison Circuit Court during the third day of trial. Rearick is accused of acting in a reckless manner that resulted in the 2011 shooting of Richie, who suffered permanent brain injuries. If convicted of first-degree assault, Rearick could be sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison.
