Valley View Ferry is to be closed for seven to 10 days as cable replacement is needed. "We are required to inspect the cables every two to three years. These cable last quite a while and I think they were placed in the mid to late 1990s. The reason they're being replaced is, naturally, for people's safety. When the inspector checked them last time, there were swollen (areas in the cables). That indicates deterioration inside the cable," Madison County Magistrate Roger Barger said.
