A tribute to his heroes

Richmond artist Richard Deane, right, chats Tuesday evening with Harry Bush of Waco about his painting of Bush included in his “Tribute to My Heroes” exhibit at Gallery on Main. The exhibit features seven paintings of influential people througout Deane’s life. At right is a portrait of Tarzan whom Deane said he looked up to as a child. “This was my way of saying thank you to some people I didn’t have the opportunity to thank,” Deane said of the exhibit which runs through January. “We don’t often tell people how much they mean to us while we have the opportunity and soon it becomes too late.” Also featured during the artist’s reception was Kentuckian Dorothy Sutton who read from her latest book of poetry, “Backing into Mountains.”
